Nancy Slagle was born in 1980 and spent most of her childhood in Fairbanks, Alaska.

She studied literature and art at Creighton University and the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Her fascination with the written word as both an object and a symbol frequently materializes in her artwork.

Nancy now resides in Denver, Colorado, where she writes and illustrates freelance. She continues to draw and paint. She has also written and illustrated an unreleased book for older children called Stu-Colored Snow, which is set in Alaska.
